Antigua

Stay in Antigua Guatemala for a few nights before heading home. It is a very safe colonial town with so much to enjoy. Walk to almost everywhere including a cute farm on the outskirts of town for an organic lunch. Other activities in Antigua include a volcano hike, spa day, fine dining, shopping and more.

Departure from the retreat venue will be by 10am on our travel day. (The venue has another group arriving later that day so they cannot accommodate late checkouts).

It is possible to leave the lake and head directly to the airport, but keep in mind traffic and the long travel times. Also, that might mean private transport if you are the only person going to the airport. There is always the possibility of traffic that might make it a stressful drive if on a tight schedule.

From Antigua and Guatemala City, all of the hotels provide reliable airport transfers.

Below is a list of our favorite hotels in Antigua (in order of best to last):

Use these affiliate links when you book for the best prices (and help us make a tiny commission):

Hotel Museo Spa Casa Santo Domingo (Great spa. You can also just book a treatment to have access)

The Good Hotel, Antigua (Modern Scandinavian design. Great location. Proceeds go to local children’s schooling)

Panza Verde (Farthest from the main shopping areas (10-15 min walk), so more quiet in general. Great restaurant if you don’t want to have to leave your hotel for breakfast or dinner. Also morning yoga onsite in their art gallery, and closest to Caoba Farms)

Porta Hotel

El Convento Boutique Hotel

Ojala (Cute Hostel)

The Good Hotel in Guatemala City (if you have a super late or early flight and want to be closer to the airport)

It is a 2.5 hour drive + 20 min boat ride from Antigua to Lake Atitlán, or around a 3 hour drive if coming directly from the Guatemala City Airport.

Antigua is an UNESCO heritage site, built in the 1600s and is truly worth a few days! A foodie town with cobblestone streets. Singer has a handful of great hotel recommendations who all provide airport transfers. Antigua is very safe and walkable.

ANTIGUA PICKS: Favorite food spots Caoba Farm, “Nana” and “Santo Spirito” in Antigua. Molly’s textile spot Luna Zorro, outside of Antigua is really amazing too if you have time to take a 10min Uber out of town!
