Objectives for our 200 Hour Training Modules:
Transform your own practice - A variety of styles explored, plenty of technical Q&A’s, and space for safe yogic exploration to take your practice to a new level. You will cultivate balance in your relationship to your own body, mind, and spirit.
Learn the Art of Creative Sequencing - Along with the basics of crafting mindfully sequenced group and private classes, you’ll learn how to accommodate the needs of whomever shows up and practice the art of improvising.
Hone your Seeing Skills - Practice the fine art of seeing and empathing: learn to distinguish the different layers that make up each person, including the physical body, the emotional body, the energetic body, and the personality; and explore ways to teach that address the whole person.
Know Your Anatomy - At The Art of Yoga School, we believe that for yoga to truly be a transformative, personal practice, it needs to be taught with a studied understanding of human anatomy and energy. We offer in-depth anatomy instruction emphasizing the ways asana and pranayama impact the human body and energy body, and learn how to apply the principles of yoga alignment to students with differing body types, injuries, and in different life stages.
Discover your Inner Teacher - Find and speak from your authentic voice, with confidence and compassion; learn non-judgmental communication techniques that allow you to hold space for your students’ experiences on the mat and create a safe, supportive, and energetic environment for your classes

Learn, Practice, Transform
Lead trainers Courtney Hans (E-RYT 500) and Singer Mayberry (E-RYT 500) will guide you through topics that will enrich your practice and give you the tools to start sharing yoga with others effectively and safely. Each day we meet will be a mixture of practice, reading and discussion.
200 hours are the required hours for Yoga Alliance Approved 200YTTs. These hours will be fulfilled with our Lead Trainers and faculty for the self-paced online Anatomy and Foundations of Ayurveda.
As part of the 200 hours, trainees will be responsible for attending at least 10 public classes (15 hours minimum) on their own, outside of the training (online or in person), with a minimum of 6 different teachers. Trainees will log these hours and write 1-2 paragraphs describing their experience for each class. Note* we are not asking you take notes while practicing with other teachers, but to try and reflect on the class after attending. Trainees will be asked to discuss aspects of the classes that they would like to incorporate into their own teaching and why. During our Q&A time, trainees will be encouraged to bring up questions they had regarding their experiences or observations in outside classes as a way to reinforce a learning environment of curiosity and inclusivity, and to discuss and possibly clarify alignment, anatomical, and sequencing principles.

Lead Trainer
Courtney has been teaching yoga since 2013. She is recognized by Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500 and YACEP. She teaches vinyasa, slow flow, yin, and restorative yoga, and has also studied Foundations of Ayurveda and meditation.
Courtney’s journey with yoga began in 2001 in New Orleans after having finished college where she studied Sanskrit and Hinduism among other subjects. She initially took little notice of yoga but found herself drawn back to the practice a decade later. “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
Her vinyasa-based classes are engaging and focused, ending in a few restorative poses to recenter and realign with why you stepped on your mat. She enjoys teaching students of all levels, with a special interest in proper alignment for beginners. Her teaching style emphasizes alignment and encourages students to explore movement and self-discovery. As a self-proclaimed athlete (running and hiking - Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker Class of 2015), Courtney encourages and values safety and observation to create a sustainable practice.
Her own yoga practice provides her with a sense of home and belonging. It is ever-changing, available, and a source of solace and stability through life's experiences. “I allow myself to surrender in my practice.”
Courtney has taught various styles of yoga and workshops in Austin, TX; Washington, DC; Richmond, VA; and along the Appalachian Trail. Currently, she lives and teaches in Portland, OR.
Lead Trainer
Singer Mayberry has been teaching yoga in Austin Texas since 2013 and is recognized by Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT500. With a BA in Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin (2007), she has also completed over 800 hours of training in Yoga and Ayurvedic Studies. Over the past 8 years she has hosted over 35 yoga retreats in the US and internationally.
Additional certifications and workshops which Singer has completed include Core Strength Vinyasa with Sadie Nardini (2014), Yin Yoga Training with Heather Tiddens (2015), Level 1 Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater (2016), Foundations of Ayurveda certification from The California College of Ayurveda (2018), 30 hour certification in Shiatsu Massage with Black Swan Bodywork (2019), and 30 hours of Advanced Yoga Anatomy with Laura Goellner (2023).
From 2010-2017 she owned a multifaceted Art Gallery known as “Black Lagoon” that doubled as a successful Yoga Studio for over 5 years. At its most successful point, Singer’s curated yoga program in the gallery was hosting 20 plus weekly classes by a handful of talented local teachers.
Combining a passion for sharing yoga and her love of travel, she has hosted over 35 yoga retreats to Santa Fe New Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Terlingua and Marfa Texas in the last 8 years. Lookout for future retreats and trips.

TEACHER TRAINING CANCELLATION POLICY
The Art of Yoga School LLC reserves the right to cancel the training within 30 days of the scheduled start date.
In the event that The Art of Yoga School LLC has to cancel the training for any reason, students who have paid the entire tuition fee in full, may receive a full refund, or apply their entire enrollment fee to a future training.
STUDENT CANCELLATION POLICY
Once a monthly payment has been made, if you need to forfeit your spot in the training and un-enroll, you have 48 hours after your payment is made to receive a partial 50% refund on your last monthly payment. All other payments are non-refundable.
TEACHER TRAINING ATTENDANCE POLICY
The Art of Yoga School LLC expects students enrolled in our teacher training sessions to attend ALL classes from the first through the final day. In line with YA standards, trainees may miss up to 4 Saturdays during our yearlong program. Trainees will be given a recording of the missed session to watch on their own. A short quiz will be given to show you completed the hours on your own time.
Beyond this - if a student is unable to attend a particular session, she or he will need to arrange to make up the session. To make up a session, a student will need to have approval from Singer Mayberry that details the parameters of how the training missed will be completed. Students may incur additional fees to accommodate this certification process.
If a student fails to attend any portion of a teacher training session, he or she is not eligible for a refund of a prorated portion of the teaching training enrollment fees, nor is a student able to return a training manual or any books required and purchased for the training for a refund or credit.
It is the student’s responsibility to show up for classes. If a student fails to attend classes, The Art of Yoga School LLC reserves the right not to issue certification to that student. It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with the teachers and with the teacher training manager about any emergencies or issues that arise during the training.
